“44 Years of Excellence & Beyond…”

44 Years of Excellence & Beyond…”
By BJL

Founded on August 8, 1967, Narra Barrio High School then was a product of hard work and concerted effort of people whose heart and mind truly believed that education liberates man from poverty. A few to mention behind the establishment of now Narra National High School which is considered as the mother of all secondary schools in the Municipality of Narra, are the late Barangay Captain Bernabe Soriano, former Kagawad Toribio Ortega Jr., former Town Mayors Hon. Ricardo Baldevieso, Hon. Salvador Lopez, Hon. Amador O. Ramel, Hon. Atty. Clarito D. Demaala Jr. and Hon. Lucena D. Demaala.

Narra National High School was formerly situated in Narra Pilot School campus exactly where Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) building is presently located. In 1986, the school has finally acquired its 8 hectares permanent site under Presidential Proclamation 275 signed by the late President Corazon C. Aquino through the initiative of Mayor Amador O. Ramel and Mayor Atty. Clarito D. Demaala Jr., respectively.

The 44 years of excellent service of this institution to the people of Narra and its nearby towns and barangays, can be attributed to the pioneering educators: Ms. Paz Morales Diacajo, Mr. Florentino Balingit, Mr. Benjamin J. Castillo, Mr. Ernesto Garcellano, Mr. Ruel Caspe, Ms. Meria, Mrs. Erlinda Setias-Garcellano, Mrs. Zenaida Katon Peneyra, Mr. Lemuel Pronto, Mrs. Adela Pilar, Ms. Helen Asuncion, and Mrs. Norma Gonzales-Ponce de Leon. Among the school heads who led to what is Narra National High School nowadays are Mr. Rufo M. Cabanlig, Mrs. Erlinda Setias-Garcellano, the longest serving principal so far, Mrs. Eusebia O. Rebucas, and presently, Mr. Joel N. Gulane.

Today, with 2,000 student population, more or less, and almost 70 teaching and non-teaching personnel, Narra National High School is envisioned to become a premier secondary school and center of academic excellence in the Province of Palawan.
